good eats now {AL}

Saturday was the first day for the Pepper Place Market this year. Local farmers set up to sell fresh produce at the historic Pepper Place complex {once the Dr. Pepper syrup plant}. You can enjoy live music, crafts, cooking demos, and wine tastings. When {e} lived here, we would go to the market every Saturday, get our mango teas, and eat goodies being sampled by local cafes & bakeries. We always had so much fun – miss you girl!
Following is a list of local produce in season & available at the market: arugula, asparagus, beets, broccoli, cabbage, fava beans, leeks, nettles, peas, radishes, rhubarb, spinach, strawberries, summer squash, zucchini, + more.
I loaded up on strawberries and found a recipe for lemon rosemary cake with strawberry compote from Sunday Suppers. Wish I had a piece right now!
oh, how i wish i could have been there too! one of my favorite things to do in birmingham. might just have to pop in for a visit!!!
